Barbara Hepworth November Green exhibition print

A special exhibition print of Barbara Hepworth’s November Green, 1970.

Available to celebrate the Barbara Hepworth: Art & Life exhibition coming to Tate St Ives, the artwork is printed on responsibly sourced 300gsm Somerset textured watercolour paper, with a Tate dot logo embossed in the bottom corner of the border.

Originally created in 1970, this green and red print is part of Hepworth’s group of screenprint and lithograph work known as ‘Opposing Forms’. This work explores Hepworth’s preoccupation with the harmonious balance and energy found in nature. As a suite of work, ‘Opposing Forms’ does not demonstrate extreme opposites but rather the complementary nature of these opposing forces, the yin and yang, the sun and moon. The print measures 40 x 30 cm, including a white border.

About the artist

Barbara Hepworth began her career as a sculptor in London in the late 1920s, and quickly established herself in the vanguard of the modern movement. Caught in St. Ives by the outbreak of the war, she went on to spend thirty-six years – exactly half her life – in the town. Hepworth came to value the sense of community she found in St. Ives, and it was this very rootedness that allowed her to develop sculpture for the national and international stage. A number of her sculptures, prints and drawings form an important part of Tate’s collection.
