Elizabeth Siddal’s watercolour painting shows a scene from the story of Alfred Tennyson’s ballad Lady Clare, 1842: the night before her wedding Lady Clare is told by her nurse that was not born to the aristocratic title – she is actually the nurse’s own child, swapped into the noble family when their daughter died as a baby. Siddal shows the nurse begging Clare not to tell her fiancé the truth, but Clare is resolute in her decision to be honest.
This art print is 40 x 30 cm, including an artwork credit line and white border. It’s printed on responsibly sourced Mondi 300gsm paper by our Sussex-based printers.
About the artist
Elizabeth Eleanor Siddal (1829 – 1862) was an English artist, poet and model. She began her modelling career in 1849, and was the sitter for many well-known Pre-Raphaelite artworks, including John Everett Millais’ Ophelia, 1851-52. As an artist and poet, she produced more than 100 works, whose artistic value was appreciated by her contemporaries and her patron, John Ruskin, who described her as a ‘genuis’. Her sketches, drawings and watercolour paintings were often based on Medieval or folkloric themes, and her work was exhibited at the summer exhibition at Russell Place in 1857. Her artworks are held in several museum and gallery collections, including Tate’s.

- UK – 1-2 weeks
- International – 2-4 weeks
Please note that some items are dispatched separately if they are made to order (such as coffee, custom prints and custom print clothing, neon lights or furniture). This means that if you order these items alongside other shop products, they won’t all arrive together, and you’ll get several deliveries.
If the delivery time frame for each item has ended and you’re still waiting for something from your order, please get in touch and we’ll investigate for you.
Delivery costs
We currently offer free standard delivery on UK orders over £60. Our other delivery costs are as follows.
For orders under £60:
UK – £5 per order
European Union – £15 per order
Rest of world (including non-EU European countries) – £28 per order

Refunds & returns
If you are not completely happy with your order, you can return any items to us, free of charge within 60 days of purchase, and we will be happy to offer you a full refund, replacement or exchange on any items excluding custom prints, furniture and pierced earrings.
