Additional Information

Isaac Julien has generously produced Looking for Langston - What Freedom Is To Me, 2023, a limited edition print on the occasion of the exhibition, Isaac Julien: What Freedom Is To Me, Tate Britain, 26 April – 20 August 2023.

The edition references Julien’s 1989 film, Looking For Langston, a lyrical exploration of the inner world of the Harlem Renaissance poet, novelist and playwright Langston Hughes (1902-1967) and one of Julien’s most celebrated films. It’s exploration of the complexity of the queer gaze led to the film gaining cult status, becoming a hallmark of what is now described as ‘New Queer Cinema.' Looking for Langston - What Freedom Is To Me, 2023 is a high-quality fine art print with gloss varnish screen-printed on the central image.

Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and comes unframed. Prices of the artwork are liable to change. As a limited edition sells out, prices of the artwork are subject to increase and the price will be clearly indicated.
