Ithell Colquhoun was a queer woman who stood up for her beliefs and interests in the male-dominated art world of the 1930s. Breaking ties with the Surrealist group rather than abandon her spiritual beliefs, Colquhoun became a recognised authority on occultism and British mysticism.

Colquhoun created the rivers and patches of ink seen in the design by squeezing ink onto paper and pressing another piece of paper onto it. Colquhoun and other Surrealists believed the smears and blots of the artwork were created by the unconscious mind.

The lace up leather boots feature Dr. Martens signature yellow stitching, loop tag and air cushioned soles.
