Philip Colbert Lobster Games Team GB poster

Part of a collection of posters and limited editions published and printed by King & McGaw for Team GB to mark the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this commemorative poster features Lobster Games by Philip Colbert, an artwork created especially by the artist.

The lobster is central to Colbert’s artworks, and here he shows four of his colourful crustaceans piled together with an assortment of sporting equipment, from a skateboard to a shuttlecock. The pink, blue, red and purple playful lobsters struggle against each other in a playful nod to the competitiveness of the Olympic Games, and its tenets of courage, determination, and the pursuit of excellence. They’re set against a bright yellow ground, with ‘Colbert’ in white bubble writing curving around the red lobster’s head.

The intensely colourful poster is printed on Premium 50gsm Coala paper and measures 80 x 60 cm. Underneath the artwork image is a white border featuring the official Team GB logo, the artist’s name, and the location of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, making it a lasting memento for fans of both sport and art.

About the artist

Philip Colbert (born 1979) is a Scottish born Pop artist living and working in London. He graduated from St Andrews University with an MA in Philosophy, and his work references art history and contemporary culture, explored through the medium of his Lobster alter-ego. His work has been exhibited internationally on a large scale, and he was part of Tate Modern’s The World Goes Pop 2015 exhibition.
