Terry Frost Moonship drop earrings

A playful interpretation of a Tate collection artwork, these colourful wooden drop earrings celebrate Terry Frost’s lithograph Moonship, 1972.

Frost’s artwork is an exploration of bright colour, which is just what we set out to do with these earrings. Made from sustainably, locally sourced walnut wood, the earrings are then painted by hand in Materia Rica’s Barcelona-based studio to achieve a vibrant finish that does justice to Terry Frost’s abstract artwork.

Styled in all the colours of the original artwork – red and yellow, green and brown, blue and red, and turquoise and pink – the long, stud-fastened earrings are designed with movement in mind, bringing elements of the artwork to life. Approved by the Terry Frost estate, a card featuring an image of the original Tate artwork is included in the box with every pair of earrings.

The earring posts and findings are made from hypoallergenic brass.

This Terry Frost inspired jewellery collection is made exclusively for Tate in collaboration with Materia Rica. Materia Rica was created by Marta Chojnacka and Joan Ayguade Jarque, who met in London and teamed up to create jewellery and accessories with a focus on sustainability and traditional craftsmanship. They use locally sourced FSC certified wood for their jewellery designs, and every necklace and earring is created in their Barcelona studio, dyed and finished completely by hand.
