Terry Frost Straw, Orange, Blue hoop earrings

Terry Frost’s Straw, Orange, Blue 1972 is the inspiration behind these modular hoop earrings, designed by Tate and created by Materia Rica.

Using the pebble-like shapes from Frost’s bold abstract lithograph, the earring charms are cut from walnut wood, responsibly sourced locally to Materia Rica’s Barcelona based studio. Hung on hypoallergenic brass hoops, the wooden charms can be arranged into whichever colour pairs you choose. We’ve layered them to match the Tate collection artwork they’re based on, but you can follow Frost’s example and get creative with colour.

Our Terry Frost inspired wooden jewellery collection is approved by the Terry Frost estate, and a card featuring an image of the original artwork is included in the box with each pair of earrings.

The earrings are hand-painted to achieve their highly pigmented finish – to preserve this effect, we recommend that you don’t get them wet, and store them in their box when not in use. Please note that as the earrings are for pierced ears, we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges on them unless they are fautlty.

Materia Rica was created by Marta Chojnacka and Joan Ayguade Jarque, who met in London and teamed up to create jewellery and accessories with a focus on sustainability and traditional craftsmanship. They use locally sourced FSC certified wood for their jewellery designs, and every necklace and earring is created in their Barcelona studio, dyed and finished completely by hand.
