Additional Information

This tasty-looking Tom Wesselmann fruit bowl neon light uses a detail that the artist often used in his still life Pop artworks, such as Mixed Bouquet with Leger, 1993.

Wesselmann sought to make the representational as exciting as abstract art, and rendering his designs in bright neon light feels like a fitting homage to his ambition. This ‘Garden Delights’ neon wall art has been created in close collaboration with Wesselmann’s estate, by LED experts Yellowpop.

Two oranges and a pear, resting in Wesselmann’s distinctively shaped fruit bowl, are picked out in neon flex tubing in orange, green and blue. This neon flex is made from PVC or Silicon piping with LED lights inside, which is 80% more energy efficient than traditional neon signs, but gives the same intense brightness. Each hand-assembled light is mounted on recycled acrylic board.

The 50 x 33 cm light comes with a dimmer, UK plug, a 3 metre transparent cable, and an installation kit. The installation kit contains enough specialist screws for you to easily affix your sign to any wall in your home. For peace of mind, the sign is insured during shipping, and comes with a 1 year guarantee. Your fruity wall hanging will arrive packed in 100% recycled packaging, designed especially for the Tom Wesselmann collection, and with no unnecessary plastic. So the only difficulty you’ll have is deciding where you want to hang it - kitchen, living room, bedroom, or corridor?

About the artist

Tom Wesselmann (1931 – 2004) was an American artist who worked in painting, sculpture and collage. He is often identified as part of the Pop art movement, a label he personally disliked. His artworks frequently concentrated on elements of the female form, and household products or advertising images, often on a large scale. Seascape Dropout, 1982, a woodcut print on paper, forms part of Tate’s collection of art.

Working with artists and designers, and using efficient neon-flex technology, they aim to spread the joy they feel in the glow of their neon signs to a wide audience by creating high quality, hand-assembled lights.
