A Wind Blows Patterns I
Additional Information
Ryan, who is celebrated for her sculptural work, was the first artist to undertake a residency at Hepworth’s Palais de Dance studio in St Ives, and in 2021, was commissioned to respond to the work of Hepworth as part of The Hepworth Wakefield’s 10th anniversary programme. As part of her commission, Ryan cast Magnolia seed pods in bronze, which can be seen in the limited edition, A Wind Blows Patterns I, 2022. The Magnolia pods were found by Ryan whilst exploring Hepworth’s garden in St Ives a few years prior and remind her of soursop fruits, which Ryan first tasted when her family briefly returned to Montserrat from the UK where they moved when she was an infant. The arrangement of the pods is incidental, as if they are being moved and scattered by the wind. The limited edition was made using traditional etching techniques and is Ryan’s return to producing prints since studying print-making at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham UK, as part of her BA (Hons) Fine Art degree.
Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
Prices of the artwork are liable to change. As a limited edition sells out, prices of the artwork are subject to increase and the price will be clearly indicated.
