Yellow Bollard 3D printed lamp

This yellow Bollard lamp is the bright idea of London based design studio, Basics of Love. 3D printed from a plant based alternative to plastic, it’s a colourful piece of modernist design that’ll brighten up your home even with its light off.

At 35.5 cm, the tall desk lamp has a tactile, textured finish and a pleasing mix of sharp and rounded curves make up the design. A concertina-like yellow base leads into the curved, lantern shaped top, which emits a soft glow with an LED bulb.

Rubber feet on the underside of the lamp’s base provide a firm grip and protection for delicate surfaces, and it’s finished with an elegant black 1.8m braided cord, with a chunky retro switch and a transparent plug.

Basics of Love is a collaborative design studio based in Walthamstow, in London. Ellen Wilkinson and Wojciech Rusin design and make all of their contemporary homeware products there, inspired by abstract art and modernist design. As well as using plant-based alternatives to plastic for their 3D printed items, the studio is powered by 100% renewable energy, and all of their packaging is reusable and recyclable.

Plant based PLA is a versatile and durable material derived from corn starch. Unlike oil-based plastics, this material can deform at high temperatures, so avoid temperatures above 50°C and only use LED bulbs in the lamp. It is UKCA compliant, and can be cleaned with a duster or a damp cloth as required.
